“You Can Prevent Homelessness!”

Purchase gift certificates for local supermarkets and other stores and prevent a family or individual from becoming homeless.

The Dennis-Yarmouth Ecumenical Council for the Prevention of Homelessness (D-YECH) and the Barnstable Interfaith Council (BIC) raise money from the sale of these certificates to prevent homelessness. More than $800,000 has been raised for this program so far and thousands of Cape Codders have been helped.

How it works: Both groups buy gift certificates from participating stores in bulk and resell them at local churches, banks and other businesses. Buying in bulk, the groups earn a 5% profit on every gift card sold. Every penny goes to families or individuals at risk of losing their homes. HAC keeps none of the money raised for administration.

Best of all: It costs you nothing extra!

Buy them for yourself; buy them as gifts. Get in the habit of using them and your long-term support of homelessness prevention will make a huge difference.

Here at Swift Memorial UMC, gift certificates are available for: Shaw’s/Star Market and Stop & Shop in denominations of $25, $50, and $100. Cards can be purchased through the church office during regular business hours, or after our regular Sunday worship service.
